Negligent Credentialing

Negligent Credentialing is a legal and institutional concept referring to the failure of a healthcare organization to exercise reasonable care in the evaluation, verification, and monitoring of a physician’s qualifications, thereby allowing an unqualified or incompetent practitioner to obtain or retain clinical privileges, which constitutes a breach of the organization’s duty to ensure provider competence and patient safety.
