Nascent Chain Compaction

Nascent Chain Compaction is the process by which a newly synthesized polypeptide chain undergoes structural condensation into a more densely packed conformation during translation, prior to full emergence from the ribosome exit tunnel, thereby representing a co-translational protein folding event distinct from post-translational folding mechanisms.
