Mitochondrial Presequence Translocation

Mitochondrial Presequence Translocation is a biochemical mechanism, within the broader class of mitochondrial protein import processes, that specifically facilitates the ATP-dependent translocation of nuclear-encoded precursor proteins across the mitochondrial inner membrane via recognition and engagement of their N-terminal presequences by the TIM23 complex.
