Microhomology Usage

Microhomology Usage is a molecular repair mechanism that belongs to the class of DNA double-strand break repair pathways and is distinguished by the reliance on short, directly homologous nucleotide sequences—typically 2–20 base pairs in length—flanking the break site to facilitate error-prone end joining through annealing and ligation, thereby enabling genomic rejoining without a homologous template.
