Methemoglobin Formation
Methemoglobin Formation is a biochemical process in which hemoglobin is oxidized to methemoglobin, a non-functional form of hemoglobin wherein the iron in the heme group is converted from the ferrous (Fe²⁺) to the ferric (Fe³⁺) state, thereby impairing oxygen binding and delivery.
