Low-dimensional Solids

Low-Dimensional Solids is a class of condensed-matter systems in which one or more spatial dimensions are restricted to length scales comparable to characteristic microscopic lengths (such as the electronic de Broglie wavelength or coherence length), so that charge, spin, and lattice excitations are effectively confined to one or two dimensions and exhibit physical properties distinct from those of three-dimensional bulk solids.
