Leather Shrinkage

Leather Shrinkage is a physicochemical degradation phenomenon in leather conservation characterized by the irreversible reduction in surface area and dimensional stability of collagen fiber networks due to exposure to heat, moisture, or chemical agents, distinguishing it from other forms of leather deterioration by its specific mechanism of structural collapse without mass loss.
