Lamentation Texts

Lamentation Texts is a genre of ancient Mesopotamian literary composition, distinct from other religious or poetic texts, in that it ritually expresses grief and mourning over the destruction of temples or cities, often invoking divine absence or withdrawal in a structured, liturgical form.
