Identity-based Art

Identity-Based Art is a current in contemporary art that comprises artistic practices which foreground the representation, exploration, and critical interrogation of socially constructed identities—such as race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, class, and disability—typically emerging from identity politics and seeking to challenge dominant cultural narratives and structures of marginalization.
