Hydration Shell Energetics

Hydration Shell Energetics is a theoretical construct in ion channel biophysics that quantifies the energetic contributions of water molecule reorganization around ions during permeation, distinguishing itself by explicitly modeling the thermodynamic stabilization or destabilization of ion translocation due to changes in hydration shell structure within confined channel environments.
