Germinant Recognition is a molecular signaling process in bacterial sporulation whereby specific germinant receptors embedded in the spore’s inner membrane detect and bind to small molecules (germinants), triggering the transition from spore dormancy to vegetative growth through activation of downstream germination pathways.
