Future Thinking

Future thinking is the cognitive capacity and process by which individuals or groups mentally project into, predict, and plan for future states, events, and consequences. As an academic concept and research field, it investigates the psychological, neural, computational, and social mechanisms underlying this prospective simulation, exploring its role in decision-making, goal pursuit, adaptation, planning, and the development of foresight and resilience across various domains of human activity.
