Force Posture Planning is a strategic defense planning construct that defines the geographic distribution, operational alignment, and readiness levels of military forces in order to achieve national security objectives, differentiated from other defense planning constructs by its focus on the spatial, temporal, and configurational arrangements of forces to deter threats, respond to contingencies, and sustain combat capability.
