Epic Memory is a theoretical construct in epic poetics that identifies the cognitive and cultural mechanism through which oral traditions preserve, transmit, and reconstruct narrative content across generations, distinguishing itself from general memory models by its focus on heroic myth, formulaic composition, and collective identity in preliterate societies.
