Environmental Parameter Estimation

Environmental Parameter Estimation is a methodological framework within underwater acoustics that, by leveraging observed acoustic field data in conjunction with propagation models, inversely infers geoacoustic or oceanographic properties of the marine environment such as sound speed profiles, bottom composition, or bathymetry to improve the accuracy of acoustic predictions and source localization in applications like Acoustic Tomography, Matched Field Processing, and Passive Sonar.
