Dosage Compensation

Dosage compensation is the biological process that regulates and balances the expression levels of genes located on sex chromosomes relative to autosomes, or between sexes possessing different numbers of sex chromosomes, thereby preventing potentially detrimental gene product imbalances critical for proper development and cellular function.
