Divalent Selectivity

Divalent Selectivity is a biophysical selectivity mechanism, within ion channel physiology, that specifically discriminates between divalent cations (such as Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺) based on differences in ionic size, charge density, and coordination chemistry within the channel’s conduction pathway.
