Deterministic Ground Motion Modeling
Deterministic Ground Motion Modeling is a computational methodology in strong-motion seismology that predicts earthquake ground motions by explicitly simulating the physical rupture process and wave propagation through a detailed, physics-based representation of the earth’s crust, distinguishing it from stochastic or empirical approaches by its reliance on first-principles modeling of source, path, and site effects.
