Crown Competition Factor

Crown Competition Factor is a stand density metric that quantifies the degree of canopy closure and inter-tree competition for light by measuring the cumulative basal area of trees whose crowns are in direct contact with a given subject tree’s crown, thereby distinguishing it from other stand density indices through its explicit focus on crown overlap as an indicator of competitive interaction.
