Constraint-based Estimation

Constraint-Based Estimation is a statistical modeling approach in age-period-cohort analysis that belongs to the class of identification strategies relying on the imposition of deterministic constraints to disentangle the nonseparable effects of age, period, and cohort, distinguished by its use of theoretical or empirical restrictions to achieve parameter identifiability in the presence of perfect multicollinearity among the three time-related variables.
