Classical Theory

Classical Theory is a theoretical framework in the academic study of insider trading that explains the legality and ethical implications of trading based on material, non-public information by corporate insiders, distinguishing itself from other theories by its foundation on the fiduciary duty principle and the notion that such trading constitutes a breach of a duty owed to shareholders.
