Centromere Repositioning is a chromosomal phenomenon in which the functional centromere relocates to a novel genomic site without accompanied DNA sequence translocation, thereby altering the centromere's position within the chromosome while maintaining its essential role in kinetochore assembly and chromosome segregation.
