Capillary Trapping

Capillary Trapping is a physical retention mechanism in porous media whereby non-wetting phase fluids, such as injected gas, are immobilized in pore throats due to capillary forces that prevent their further migration, distinguishing it from other trapping mechanisms by its dependence on interfacial tension and pore-scale wettability.
