Calreticulin Cycle

The "Calreticulin Cycle" is a molecular chaperone-mediated quality control mechanism in the endoplasmic reticulum that specifically recognizes monoglucosylated N-glycans on nascent glycoproteins, facilitating their proper folding through iterative cycles of calreticulin binding and release regulated by glucosidase II and UDP-glucose:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase.
