Biodiversity Regime

A Biodiversity Regime is an international environmental regime comprising a set of principles, rules, norms, and decision-making procedures formally adopted by states and international organizations to conserve biological diversity, ensure the sustainable use of its components, and promote the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from genetic resources, thereby distinguishing it from other environmental regimes through its specific focus on the conservation and governance of life at the genetic, species, and ecosystem levels.
