Basic Mark Dependency

Basic Mark Dependency is a foundational legal principle within international trademark law that refers to the conditional relationship between an international registration under the Madrid Protocol and its associated national or regional application or registration, such that the validity of the international registration remains contingent upon the survival of the underlying basic mark during an initial dependency period.
