Apparent Cohesion

Apparent Cohesion is a mechanical property in geotechnical engineering that represents the intercept of the linear envelope of shear strength in rocks under zero effective normal stress, distinguished from true cohesion by incorporating the effects of interlocking, friction, and other non-cohesive forces that contribute to shear resistance.
