Amendment Under Article 19

Amendment Under Article 19 is a formal procedural mechanism under the Patent Cooperation Treaty that permits an applicant to amend the claims of an international patent application after its receipt by the International Bureau but before the issuance of the international preliminary report on patentability, thereby distinguishing it from later-stage amendments by its timing and limited scope of influence on the examination process.
