Aldol Addition

Aldol Addition is an organic reaction in which an enol or enolate ion undergoes nucleophilic addition to a carbonyl compound, forming a β-hydroxy carbonyl product, thereby distinguishing it from other carbonyl reactions by the specific formation of a new carbon–carbon bond and an alcohol functional group adjacent to the carbonyl.
