Abandonment

Abandonment is a formal process within the decommissioning of offshore structures, subsea intervention, and well lifecycle management wherein a well, subsea pipeline, or zonal isolation system is permanently taken out of service through regulated procedures that isolate and seal hazardous zones, remove or secure surface equipment, and ensure long-term environmental and structural integrity to prevent uncontrolled fluid migration or seepage.
