The dynamic vibration absorber has been shown to be a very useful method of limiting vibration of excessive amplitude. It has been shown that by addition of damping a dynamic absorber can be made to be effective over a large range of forcing frequencies. The equations relating to optimal dynamic vibration absorbers are developed and applied to a particular case.
