The critical magnetic field and the associated supercooling are measured and analyzed in superconducting molybdenum. The coexistence of a superconducting surface sheath with a supercooled normal bulk is confirmed. Thermal-conductivity measurements are analyzed and the possible influence of $s\ensuremath{-}d$ scattering close to ${T}_{c}$ is discussed.
