Abstract

The Patient-Generated-Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is mainly used to assess a patient’s nutritional status and potential risk for weight loss. The PG-SGA consists of two parts; one from the patient and the other from the clinician. The patient completed part includes criteria related to 4 sections: weight; symptoms; food intake; and functional capacity. Checked boxes are used to indicate the respondent’s situation; each box (criteria) has different weight, thus, each section has a separate score. The clinician part includes questions related to evaluatiing patient disease and its relationship with nutritional requirement, metabolic demand, and physical examination.
