This article discusses the most effective ways to teach students who have low vision to read braille. It covers motivating students and parents to learn braille; and it discusses two types of instruction: parallel instruction in which a student learns to read both print and braille and nonparallel instruction in which a student with skills in basic print reading is introduced to braille. The article also examines five instructional approaches.
