AbstractThis paper examined the relationship of assertiveness to communicative competence and communication satisfaction. Participants rated themselves on assertiveness, communicative competence, and communication satisfaction. They also rated their partner on assertiveness and communicative competence (other-report). The results indicate that assertiveness is related to communicative competence but does not contribute to either self or other communication satisfaction.
