Abstract

The sinergistic corrosion inhibition for steel was achieved by the mixes inhibitor combined by peach pomace extarct (PPE) and 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) which could offer more than 750 h of protection for steel in the saline solution. The optimization of the solvent for the extraction of waste products of peach pomace processing was carried out. The highest efficiency of APTES, PPE, and mixes inhibitor (PPE/APTES) reached 3.34 %, 85.41 % and 99.25 % at 500 ppm, respectively. The excellent inhibition performance of the mixes inhibitor was attributed to the synergism between PPE and APTES. This study combines targeted analyses with commonly used gravimetric, electrochemical measurement and SEM/EDX, FTIR, to characterize for the first time of mechanism of joint action PPE and APTES as a combination corrosion inhibitor for the saline solution. The test results confirmed that the combinations extract and organosilan controlled ∼ 96–98 % of corrosion in the saline solution. The potentiodynamic polarization curves indicated that combination corrosion inhibitor acts as a mixed-type inhibitor and the addition of inhibitor, the corrosion current density of the steel in water-salt solutions significantly decreased from ∼ 20 for the sample without inhibitor to 2.1 mA cm−2 mA/cm2. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis was used to evaluate corrosion inhibitor in chemical industry applications for insight into the relevance of its adoption.
