Destabilization of Atherosclerotic Plaque by Bilirubin Deficiency

Abstract

Bilirubin deficiency, resulting from global <i>Bvra</i> deletion, generates a proatherogenic phenotype and selectively enhances neutrophil-mediated inflammation and destabilization of unstable plaque, thereby providing a link between bilirubin and cardiovascular disease risk.
