Abstract Six deciduous fruit species showed similar distribution of mortality with temperature during blossom bud development from dormancy to post bloom. During this period T 50 rose to near −3°C for all species. The range between T 10 and T 90 remained small during dormancy, increased to 6 to 10°C in the early stages of development, then diminished to 1 to 2° in the later stages. Variability within samples decreased markedly with development.
