Abstract

The pathogenesis, roentgen and clinical findings in 38 current and 33 previously reported intraosseous ganglia are reviewed. Intraosseous ganglia are thought to arise in a manner similar to their soft tissue homologues and result from a primary intramedullary fibroplasia followed by a secondary cystic and degenerative stage. They constitute an entity rather than a variant of degenerative joint disease.
