ABSTRACT The oil produced by hydrodistillation and the volatile concentrate produced by supercritical fluid extraction of Anthriscus cerefolium (L.) Hoffm. were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The oil was found to contain methyl chavicol (80%) and 1-allyl-2,4-dimethoxybenzene (16%), while the SFE volatile concentrate contained a much lower level of methyl chavicol (21.1%) and a higher content of 1-allyl-2,4-dimedioxybenzene (57.4%).
