Abstract

Urine samples from 100,000 infants have been screened for abnormal aminoacid excretion by a simple paper chromatographic method. A wide range of abnormalities has been detected, including phenylketonuria, cystinuria and prolinuria, with an incidence of abnormality of 1.44 per 1,000.
