Current Protocols in Molecular Biology

Abstract

We like the format of<i>Current Protocols in Molecular Biology</i>, edited by F. M. Ausubel et al. Its looseleaf arrangement allows for great flexibility. Obviously, it permits replacement of sections as new versions or editions are produced. However, it also allows insertion of one's own procedures or modifications of the author's procedures into the appropriate section. There is the possibility of removing whole sections for use in laboratory areas specializing in a particular set of techniques, for example, cloning. An especially welcome feature is the "commentary" section in each protocol, which indicates likely problems, some troubleshooting procedures, and the background of the procedure. It is intended that revisions become available quarterly. For those who find it difficult to keep up with current literature (does that include virtually everyone?), this will be appreciated.
