Abstract

Recent research in the field of eating disorders is reviewed, with particular focus on child and adolescent subjects. Studies exploring the significance of personality variables, family interaction styles, biological measures, childhood sexual traumas and treatment are discussed. Reports of eating disorders in obese subjects and across cultures have broadened the focus of research and may lead to a greater understanding and novel treatment approaches.
