Stopping powers of the rare gases for 50 - 200 keV ions

Abstract

Absolute stopping powers of the rare gases for ions were measured for energies from 50 - 200 keV. The measurements were made using a gas cell with a differential pumping system and a electrostatic energy analyser. The results were lower than earlier experiments for He and Ar. There are no previous measurements to compare with for Ne, Kr and Xe, and the results show that in this energy region the velocity proportionality of the stopping power does not hold.
