A panorama of the implementation of the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data (LGPD) in Brazil: an exploratory survey

Abstract

The theme “personal data” is on the rise due to entry into force of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), also known as law no. 13.709/2018, and deals with any relationship between the treatment of information classified as personal data by any means. This article aims to present the main concepts involving data privacy, the fundamentals of the LGPD and the tools and methods to assist in the implementation of the law. To verify the adequacy of organizations to LGPD in Brazil, a survey was carried out through a survey with 216 professionals from different market segments and regions. After the analysis of the survey results, it became clear that many companies are starting projects to adapt to the LGPD and that the internal structures are still small and deserve extra attention in the training of employees
