On a global basis, the use of third party logistics (3PL) services has grown dramatically in recent years. This article is based on a survey of the CEOs of 20 of the largest U.S. based 3PL providers. It examines their views concerning such matters as industry dynamics, opportunities and problems. It also documents their views related to such current industry issues as the merger and acquisition movement, the impact of the economic slowdown on their business, and their projections of company and industry growth rates.
