Learning Deficiency Versus Developmental Conceptions of Mental Retardation

Abstract

Descriptions of the mentally retarded and educational recommendations based on learning deficiency concepts are criticized, and an alternative developmental view of mental retardation is proposed. The educational consequences of learning deficiency and developmental views of mental retardation are contrasted.
