Abstract

In recent years, virtual reality equipment and technology have been rapidly developed. In order to protect and inherit traditional Chinese culture, this paper takes the chime-bells of Marquis Yi of Zeng and other contemporary musical instruments as research objects, and employs virtual reality technology to simulate and reproduce the cultural space and cultural activities at that time. Carrying out data acquisition via the use of photogrammetry and 3D scanning, data processing, 3D model reconstruction and model texture mapping, the creation of realistic models of chime-bells and other musical instruments are completed. On this basis, VR system based on HTC VIVE and Unity3D cross-platform development engine is selected to build an interactive platform to exhibit traditional culture. Compared with traditional cultural protection methods, this one is more acceptable and enjoyable. In addition, this method is better to enhance the experiencers' sense of on-site experience and attract experiencers' attention, which increases the breadth and depth of cultural communication.
