Abstract

Smart Grid is integrated with a wide range of user loads, and multiple sources of energy are connected. Therefore, finding the right location and size for distributed power generation systems (DGs) is significant. This article studies the location and sizing optimization of DGs on Smart Grid with the whale optimization algorithm. Radial power distribution systems with reliability problems were applied for the simulation. The simulation results show that the Whale Optimization Algorithm obtained the DGs location's optimum value at node 17 and DGs sizing of 1.3501 MW. As a result of the DG installation, the voltage level was adjusted from a minimum voltage of 0.9322 p.u. to 0.9945 p.u. and reduced energy losses in the power system from 1.3463 MWh to 0.2311 MWh.
