The frequency of discussions about and the extensiveness of school reform efforts across the United States suggest a pressing need for the involvement and support of individuals with expertise in planning, problem solving, and organizational change. School reform has the potential to benefit vast numbers of students. This article examines and discusses the principles and practices of organizational change as they relate to efforts to bring about meaningful school reform, with an overview of a six-step model for collaborative planning and problem solving.
